Environmental Management System Certification

Contact us

ISO 14001 is the internationally recognized standard for the certification of Environmental Management Systems.

Nowadays, many organizations are concerned with achieving and demonstrating sound environmental practices by controlling the impact their activities, products or services have on the environment. Many also have to deal with stringent legislation, economic policies and other measures in place for environmental protection. In addition, general public concern about environmental matters, including sustainable development, is on the rise. As such, many organizations have environmental management systems in place to guide their operations.

An external audit should be carried out by an independent party such as Applus+ Velosi. We are accredited by the Dutch Accreditation Council (Raad Voor Accreditatie [RvA]) in accordance with international guidelines for certification body accreditation by the International Accreditation Forum.
Applus+ Velosi will initially carry out a review of the EMS manuals and procedures by looking at the written environmental system and ascertaining if targets set are measurable and achievable. This review is followed by an on-site audit to ensure that working practices follow the procedures and stated objectives and that appropriate records are kept. After a successful audit, an ISO 14001 registration certificate will be issued.
Applus+ Velosi also provides professional training programs in partnership with an international training organization that uses competent professionals in Environmental Management Systems. Our courses are designed to provide you with the tools you need to make the most of your management system.

Implementing an Environmental Management System helps an organization to identify the potentially negative impact their operations might have on the environment and helps to prioritize their objectives towards reducing those risks. It also shows compliance with regulatory requirements and a respect for public concern, which will serve to enhance its public image and reduce the risk of potential litigation. It may also lead to new customers and partners who require their suppliers to meet criteria relevant to the tender.
